Our lodge is located in a lush jungle resort on the banks of the Nile in Uganda. We are part of a wider ecosystem including an organic farm, a nursery school and an agro-hub working with smallholder farmers.
The different organizations in our ecosystem support the local community through Amani school and by contributing to the preservation of its fauna and flora, and promoting socially and environmentally responsible tourism. Our wish is to allow our guests to enjoy nature while also helping to preserve it. That’s why we’re proud to be a certified eco-lodge according to the Tourism Board of Uganda.
Looking out across the longest river in the world, the lodge comprises five exclusive cottages, a restaurant, a bar and a pool. Its unique design is the result of an encounter between two continents, and a fine example of the skills of dozens of artisans from all over the country.
All building materials were sourced exclusively in Uganda, from Kapchorwa to Fort Portal, from Kisoro to Kotido. Furthermore, we endeavor to source all of our produce either from our own organic farm or from local farmers. We manufacture or recycle as much as we possibly can, using clay crockery, recycled bottle glasses, bamboo straws, as well as home-made linen and furniture.
Our jungle is home to more than a hundred species of birds, vervet monkeys, civet cats and iguanas. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some pangolins frolicking around.
Kipling employs over twenty people, most of whom have been with us for over five years. We hope to welcome you into the family, offering you a fine place to eat and sleep, as well as a home away from home.
All our accommodation types offer a view on the Nile, electricity and are self-contained with hot shower.
We are family friendly and to accommodate children we are happy to add baby cots, mattresses or even glamping tents in front of the cottages at guest's convenience.
We do not charge children under 3 years and give discounts to children up to 12 years.
ROYAL
COTTAGES
Our Royal cottages are spacious and offer a unique view on the river. You'll enjoy the massive Kingsize bed and the large terrace from where you can order room service and have a private conversation with the river Nile. Those rooms are located close to the Spa from where you can treat yourself with sauna and massage. The perfect escape for lovers. And if you come with your baby or younger children we're happy to add a cot or mattress.
Full-board for two people is 255$.
TRAVELLER
COTTAGES
Our Traveller cottages have been designed for families of four who like it comfy while on adventure. The children (from 4 and above) will enjoy the cosiness of the mezzanine which has two single beds while the ground floor has a double bed.
For elderly children we can always add a glamping tent in front the cottage.
Full-board for four people is 300$.
GLAMPING
There is no wifi in our tents but you'll find no better connection with nature. Our glamping experience offers the best of two worlds: fine food and impeccable service while remaining close to the trees and river even at night.
Less is more. If you agree with this statement, the glamping might be your first choice.
